About Strong.AS
The Strong.AS program is designed to promote healthy ageing through physical activity and improving knowledge about healthy eating to support senior Australians.
Physical activity is the key to staying independent. Strong.AS will include activities to improve endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. All activities will be aimed at building confidence and making every day physical tasks, such as picking up grandkids, tying shoelaces or reversing the car, easier. Participants will discover how much activity older adults need and tips on how to make staying active part of their daily routine.
Learn about changing nutrition needs as we age, such as getting enough protein to help slow down muscle loss to maintain strength and calcium for good bone health. Information will be provided on general healthy eating for heart and diabetes health and for managing blood pressure. Weekly activities will be tailored to participant needs and might include nutrition or health topics, interactive cooking sessions or supermarket tours.
