Healthy Living NT Education services

Healthy Living NT provides a range of client education services for diagnosed diabetes and cardiovascular clients, including: group education sessions, individual sessions, cardiac rehabilitation and paediatric clinics which are run by highly qualified diabetes nurse educators, cardiac nurse educators and dietitians as well as private dietitian services. These education sessions cover all aspects of diabetes and cardiac self-management.

Healthy Living News

This is our quarterly newsletter designed for health professionals containing the latest news in the fields of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, as well as staff articles of interest. If you do not currently receive Healthy Living News and would like to do so you can become an affiliate member or subscribe here.

Indigenous Resources

Healthy Living NT has several diabetes indigenous resources available for purchase. These have been designed in a flip chart format, are laminated and are spiral bound.  Also available are a handbook and poster which can be used as educational support tools.  

Appointments

Clients can either self-refer or present a referral to Healthy Living NT and book an appointment through our Tiwi and Alice Springs offices for group or individual education sessions. Group and individual appointments are also available at the Palmerston Community Health Centre on a fortnightly basis.

Interpreter Bookings

Interpreters can be booked for any client for whom English is not a first language, please inform our administration staff of the language required at the time of booking an appointment.

Out of Town Clients

Healthy Living NT services remote communities with group and individual appointments through diabetes and cardiac nurse educators. For out of town travellers, appointments will be made to coincide with visits to Darwin or Alice Springs, please give us as much notice as you are able for booking appointments. If we are unable to visit your community, telephone consultations are also available by appointment and we are happy to correspond with you by email.   Find your nearest service on the Service area map.

Special Needs Clients

Individual appointments will be made for people who have a physical impairment such as hearing or vision impaired lack of mobility or any client who cannot attend a group education session. Please advise our staff if any assistance is required at the time of booking an appointment.
